The legacy of superior quality and performance, based on years of dedicated research and development continues on with Jim Belcher as owner and Master Bowyer for SKY Archery. The history of SKY is rich. Jim’s vision for SKY will revolutionize the way archers look at traditional archery equipment. The foundation of the SKY product line is the International Limb Fitting (I.L.F.) ingeniously developed by Earl Hoyt . SKY Archery will continue to flourish as an innovative company in the archery world. SKY Archery began in 1989 when Earl and Ann Hoyt formed the company to fulfill a consulting contract and to expand their line of traditional bows. Earl grew the company by demonstrating his dedication to performance and quality. Ann sold the company to Mathews Inc. after Earl’s passing in 2001. SKY continued to produce superior quality Longbows and Recurves under the stewardship of Mathews a leader in the Compound Archery industry and known for their quality products. In 2009, Jim Belcher took over the helm of SKY Archery continuing the dedication to superior performance recurves and longbows.

Jim Belcher has been involved in archery for over 50 years. He was a champion target archer as a youth in his native England and successful bow hunter on four continents – Europe, America, Africa, and Australasia. Archery has been his passion since shooting arrows “up on the Moors” with his dad. His dad, Jack Belcher, was also a renowned Master Bowyer in England. Jim Belcher grew up around such archery legends as Rex Oaks, Roy King, and his dad. Jim was a part of the living history of archery. Here in the United States, Belcher continued bow making. He understands the needs of archers from York Round to hunting Big Game and makes a bow that performs for the specific archer.

And like Earl & Ann Hoyt, Jim & Sandra Belcher are a husband-&-wife team working side by side sharing their passion for archery. Belcher met Sandra at an archery club in Royal Oak, Michigan -- she too has been an archer for some 30 years. Sandra works in the business managing the office and designing marketing materials, such as product brochures and the web site.

Belcher’s revolutionary vision includes unveiling of the Sky TR-7 25" ILF Target Riser -- the greatest bow "never made" until now! Belcher is continuing the legacy of using modern, cutting-edge technology to ensure the same quality, craftsmanship, and performance that was important to Earl Hoyt Jr. The ILF System introduced by Earl Hoyt Jr. is the foundation of the SKY product line under Jim Belcher. Belcher has developed Torsionally-Rigid limbs that pull easily and give maximum performance down field. At SKY, limbs orders are custom fit to the draw length and weight required by the individual archer. No longer must an archer guess what weight he or she will get at their specific draw. Measuring from the center of the burger button to the knock ensures a perfect fit for the archer. Also, these limbs are custom made in matched pairs on Earl Hoyt’s original presses.
